Why Use Newspapers in your Research?

Because the information in newspapers is gathered, evaluated, and published daily, newspaper articles can be more current than what you would find in a scholarly journal or book. They can provide information about an event as it happens, and be a primary source of information about historical and current events

You can also track the development of a subject over time, seeing how opinions have changed, or are influenced by subsequent events.

Newspapers also contain commentaries, editorials, or retrospective articles about events, they can serve as a secondary source and provide a wide range of opinions and initial analysis on national and international news. This can help with writing a persuasive/argumentative essay, helping you craft an argument, or understand the ideas behind an opinion.
